~/gnamerio $ compliance --standard nist-800-171

The CMMC deadline moved. Your obligation didn't.

If your shop handles Controlled Unclassified Information for a defense prime, you are still required to meet NIST SP 800-171 right now, through a self-assessment and a current SPRS score. GnamerIO gets South Bay aerospace and defense subcontractors genuinely compliant to the standard that survives every version of this program.

What actually changed, and what didn't

The standard stayed. Only the audit bureaucracy is under review.

In July 2026 the Pentagon suspended the CMMC requirement for mandatory third-party certification, and a September class deviation directed contracting officers to strip third-party assessment clauses out of contracts. That part is real, and it took the pressure off scheduling an outside audit. Here is what did not change.

The standard stayed. Only the audit bureaucracy is under review.

Why it matters now

With outside assessors pulled back, self-attestation is now at the center — which means your signature, not an assessor's, carries the legal weight. Getting the self-assessment right matters more now, not less.

Who this is for

Built for the shop without a compliance department

✓

You are a small or mid-size aerospace or defense subcontractor in the South Bay or greater LA and Orange County.

✓

You handle CUI or FCI for a prime, or you are being asked for an SPRS score to stay on an approved supplier list.

✓

You do not have a full-time compliance team, and the NIST 800-171 control list reads like a foreign language.

✓

You want to be genuinely secure and defensibly compliant — not just holding a piece of paper.

04

Client-ready policies & SOPs

Mapped to NIST 800-171 and DFARS 252.204-7012 and 7021, so your documentation isn't a scramble later.

Frequently asked questions

The questions subcontractors are actually asking

Is CMMC dead?+
No. The mandatory third-party audit is paused and under review, but the underlying NIST 800-171 standard is still required now through self-assessment, and every likely outcome of the review keeps that standard. Build to the standard and you are ready whatever the mechanism becomes.
Do I still need an SPRS score?+
For most CUI-handling contracts, yes. A current self-assessed SPRS score is still a condition of award, and primes still ask for it.
If no one is auditing me, why not wait?+
Because your prime's flow-down still binds you, self-attestation puts the legal risk on your own signature, and real remediation takes months. Waiting means scrambling later under a deadline you don't control.
What does it cost?+
The first call is free. The gap assessment is fixed-scope and quoted up front. No long-term contract.
