~/gnamerio $ compliance --standard hipaa-security-rule

Patient data is a target. HIPAA is not optional.

If your practice creates, stores, or transmits protected health information, the HIPAA Security Rule requires a documented security risk analysis, written safeguards, and signed agreements with every vendor that touches that data. GnamerIO gets South Bay dental and medical practices genuinely compliant — and genuinely secure — without a compliance department.

What most practices actually skip

The one requirement almost every small practice is missing

The HIPAA Security Rule has applied to every practice that handles protected health information for years. Yet the single most common failure in enforcement actions is the same one: no current, documented security risk analysis. Here is what the rule requires of you right now.

The rule isn't new. The gap is what gets practices fined.

Why it matters now

When a breach or a patient complaint triggers a review, the first thing investigators ask for is your risk analysis. Not having one turns a security incident into a compliance failure — and the exposure scales with how avoidable it was.

Who this is for

Built for the practice without a compliance officer

✓

You run a dental, medical, or specialty practice in the South Bay or greater LA and Orange County.

✓

You create, store, or transmit protected health information — charts, imaging, billing, anything with a patient's name attached.

✓

You don't have a compliance officer, and the HIPAA Security Rule reads like legalese.

✓

You want to be genuinely secure and defensibly compliant — not just holding a binder you've never opened.

What you get

Documentation an investigator would expect to see

01

Security risk analysis

Your environment assessed against the HIPAA Security Rule's administrative, physical, and technical safeguards — documented, not guessed at.

02

Written policies & safeguards

Access controls, encryption, and backups, with the policies that back them — mapped to the Security Rule, not generic templates.

03

Business associate agreements

A review of every vendor that touches PHI, and proper BAAs put in place where they're missing.

04

Remediation roadmap

Prioritized: what to fix first, what it costs, and what puts your patient data at the most risk today.

05

Breach-readiness plan

A documented response plan so a lost laptop or a phishing hit doesn't become a reportable catastrophe.

Frequently asked questions

The questions practices are actually asking

Do I really need a risk analysis if I'm a small practice?+
Yes. The HIPAA Security Rule applies to every covered entity regardless of size, and a documented security risk analysis is explicitly required. Being small doesn't exempt you — it usually just means you don't have one yet.
My EHR or cloud vendor says they're "HIPAA compliant" — doesn't that cover me?+
No. A compliant vendor covers their piece of the system. You're still responsible for your own risk analysis, your own safeguards, and having a signed BAA with them. Their compliance is not a substitute for yours.
What's a BAA, and do I need one with you?+
A Business Associate Agreement is a contract HIPAA requires whenever a vendor handles PHI on your behalf. Yes — because we'd manage systems that touch patient data, GnamerIO signs one with you.
What does it cost?+
The first call is free. The risk analysis is fixed-scope and quoted up front. No long-term contract.
